[ festival time.
at least, that is what he would like to say. But Ludi Harpastum is more important than a simple festival. That sort of thing, he could leave to Charles in good conscience and never bother to show his face until maybe the last day.
But Ludi Harpastum is different. It's important he be present, even though he's at war with himself over whether he wants to be.
And so, when a familiar face walks in, he keeps his face schooled to a perfect neutral. After all, it's totally predictable that at some point, his former brother would want a drink. ]
I was wondering when you would arrive.

( the knights of favonius are always busy during the holidays, especially one such as ludi harpastum. it's hard to get an opportunity to slip away for a hearty drink, but kaeya has been waiting to get his hands on his favorite beverage all day and nothing — not even the presence of diluc — can stand in his way.
of course it would be presumptuous for anyone to think that he wasn't aware his adoptive brother would be around for easy pickings. )
I'm ready to relax a little now that things have quiet down. ( he slides onto one of the barstools as he rests his arms on top of the counter. )

[ he can imagine-- and he's heard. it's been busy all day, with people coming and going, celebrating the season... and the seasonal drinks. he picks up one of the fresh washed glasses, wiping the edge with a clean cloth to dry it.
of course, he knows what Kaeya is getting at.
after all, he figures the reason he's chosen the bar is because he wants to take his chances-- grape juice? or wine? ]
I'm surprised you waited this long. The knights are that short staffed?

he will kindly pass on the grape juice. you only have so much to quench your thirst with after all. )
We all have our duties to uphold. I can't slack off when everyone else is working so hard. ( his fingers dance against the surface of the counter in a light tap as he watches him intently from where he sits. ) Quite deserving of a drink, don't you agree?

Hmph.
One glass, then.
[ he says as he pulls a bottle of wine from under the countertops, a hint of warning at the edge of his voice.
he selects a class, and pours, focusing his gaze on that task. ]
